Pet Behaviour Veterinary Referrals
My mission of supporting animals and caregivers, ‘Behaviour Together’, is about a collaborative approach. Veterinary assessment and referral are essential in all behaviour cases.
Cat cases can include indoor marking, spraying and scratching, unacceptable elimination, intercat conflict, aggressive behaviour towards people, or feline idiopathic cystitis.
Dog cases can include reactive behaviours towards people or unfamiliar dogs, separation related problems, fear, anxiety or problems related to excessive arousal and learning.
An improved quality of life can prevent many behaviour problems. Wellbeing guidance can include optimising home environments, promoting natural behaviours, training life skills and aspects of cooperative care.
My approach
Partnership
Recognising the importance of collaboration, I prioritise working together with allied professionals to support caregivers and their companion animals.
Professionalism
I am a registered professional with an ethical and evidence-led approach. I have a postgraduate qualification in Clinical Animal Behaviour. I am a Candidate Member of the Fellowship of Animal Behaviour Clinicians. I am also an Animal Training Instructor, with the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC).
Personalisation
Each case is a unique case. Every animal’s genetics, early experiences and environment are unique. Each case is tailored to support more positive interactions with their environment, other animals and humans.

Helping your clients and patients
-

Behaviour Support
Providing behaviour support for a range of companion animal problems. These can vary from normal species behaviours that are unwanted, normal coping behaviours, or learning deficiencies, including a lack of appropriate experiences.
Behaviour problems linked to medical conditions are very common. Any medical condition, discomfort and pain can cause or contribute to problem behaviours. Veterinary diagnosis and treatment is always a priority.
I'll assess the animal’s motivation and factors underpinning the behaviour. I'll provide advice to action straightaway and plan a full treatment programme for each individual case.

Wellbeing Guidance
For more happiness at home, my wellbeing advice goes beyond problem prevention (although that may be a lovely outcome). Guiding management and interactions can provide support ahead of planned lifestyle changes.
These packages are aimed at optimising an animal’s environmental and social interactions to meet their species, breed and individual needs. This includes considering biological and behavioural needs and fostering positive emotions, for a good life.
I support caregivers by sharing knowledge about how companion animals communicate and learn, and lifestyle changes that can reduce stress and enhance resilience.

Training
My dog training packages cover life skills that enable caregivers and their dogs to enjoy more of London life together. This includes safe ways to have fun together, clear communication and building mutual understanding.
Handling is not the same as cuddling, but this is typically a necessary part of providing maintenance and health care. Cooperative care training can ease the stress of these interactions.
Training cats is possible! This includes behaviours that can help them cope, as some experiences are likely to be worrying for the average cat. Cat training is another way for humans and cats to enjoy time together.
